John
Dussich
 John Dussich is the Director of the newly established Tokiwa International
Victimology Institute (TIVI) located at the Tokiwa University in Mito, Japan (where he taught victimology, victim services
and comparative criminal justice systems for the past ten years). He has retired as a Professor at Fresno
State University, Fresno, CA where he primarily taught victimology and victim services. He has been a university level educator
since 1966 and has served eleven different educational institutions. He has direct field and administrative experience in
corrections, law enforcement and victim services. He is the current President of the World Society of Victimology.
A small sample of the almost 100 publications credited to John include the books Victim
Recovery (in Spanish), and Victim
Assistance (in Chinese with Mark Ma); and, chapters "Victims of Disasters," "How to Create and Manage a Victim Support Center,"
in Trauma Recovery: A Handbook for Victim Assistance Service Providers
(in Japanese); the book Different Responses to Violence
in Japan and America (in English with four other colleagues); and articles such as "The International Perspective on Victim
Aid," "Cultural Responses to Threats of Violence: A Comparative Study on Responses to Threats of Violence and Gun Control," and
"Victim Assistance in Japan: History, Culture and Programs." John founded the National Organization of Victim Assistance (NOVA)
in 1976; was selected as the founding Secretary General of the World Society of Victimology in 1979, and became a founding
Executive Board Member of the American Society of Victimology in 2003.
John received a doctorate, a master’s, and a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University. He also has several
professional certificates, including a Certificate of Critical Incident Stress Debriefing/Management, is a Master Practitioner
of NLP and has a Certificate in Crisis Intervention.
